THE COMPANY

Our customer Nolato GW Silicones is a leader in the production of silicone injection molding components for the medical and automotive industries. In 2014, GW Silicones used a Nexus E200 dosing system for the first time, which has since run for an impressive 65,000 hours with absolute stability and no downtime.

Initial situation & challenges

Initially, Nolato's LSR production used an Engel eVictory 310/120 machine with a conventional LSR dosing system. The produced component has a relatively large shot weight of 58.2 cm³. A challenging situation resulted from the long changeover times during barrel changes. These longer changeover times affected the overall productivity of the process and resulted in longer machine downtimes.

To overcome these challenges and increase production efficiency, our task was to replace the existing dosing system with our reliable Nexus Servomix.

In total, over 400 tons of material were processed, which corresponds to over 1000 barrel changes. Thanks to the efficient technology of the Nexus dosing systems, significantly less rinsing quantity is consumed during drum changes, and the residual quantity in the drum is also reduced to a minimum. As a result, GW Silicones was able to save an impressive $144,000 compared to the system previously used.

The E200 dosing system has been in production for an impressive 8 years without a stoppage due to a technical failure, with a total run time of over 65,000 hours and more than 400+ tons of material processed. It has also made the production process many times more stable, thanks to an air-free material feed that ensures a uniform mixing of the material.

Millions of parts have been produced so far - absolutely stress-free for our customer. In the meantime, GW Silicones now operates more than 20 Nexus dosing systems and is extremely satisfied with them, as production has been running consistently, reliably and more efficiently ever since.

We are proud that even our older models of the Nexus Servomix run absolutely reliably after so many years and production hours. Reliability and efficiency were the focus when we developed the Servomix, and we are very pleased that this has proven itself in practice.
